Speaking of Phuket tourist attraction, mostly people will think of the famous Patong Beach. Well, not far away from Patong Beach, there’s another beach which is also a popular destination for tourist as well. Yes, we’re talking about Karon Beach.

                Karon is a beach and the town adjoining locating on the western coast of Phuket. Generally, the Karon beach is quieter than neighboring Patong Beach and especially popular among families and couples tourist especially tourists from Scandinavia with many business catering especially to them.

 The Karon beach contains many large resorts and hotels as well as restaurant and tourist stores, locating across the street from the beach. Therefore practically the entire beach is public that allow tourists to travel along and fully drink deep in the scenery of white and long broad sand. The southern point also has a fine coral reef stretching toward Kata and Bu Island which tourists can take time and dive down to see the coral there.  Comparing to Patong Beach, Karon beach might be not as ‘colorful’ as Patong beach. It offers visitors a nice long quiet stretch of sand with plenty of beach umbrellas available for rent. Tourists can just lay down on the white sand to check out such a beautiful view of the sunset in the evening. In the northern of Karon Beach is also essentially undeveloped and flanked beach named Nong Harn Lake which is the largest beach side park in Phuket. It’s the good place for exercise or jogging or cycling with rare scenery – white beach and clear water with no crowds. You can say that Karon is for tourists that seek for nature beauty.

Well-known water sport like Jet-skiing and para-sailing and also diving and snorkeling since Karon also has nice point for diving. For those tourists who love shopping, there’re plenty of tailors and clothing market at Karon, either in main part of town or along the beach. There’re also a number of supermarkets and convenience store and since most of tourist who make a visit to Karon beach is Scandinavian, many restaurants here include a surprising number of Scandinavian tastes.

And if you would love to hang around by yourself freely, you might rent a motorbike for yourself which can be rented as various shops. It’s probably the cheapest and convenient way to go around since typical rates run around 250 to 300 baht for automatic: shift model.
